Cross Sectoral Collaboration Meeting 2019

Cross Sectoral Collaboration Meeting organized by The Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) was held on 30th May, 2019 with more than 100 attendees coming from different sectors, including business, community and social service.

Mr KWAN Chuk-fai, MH, JP, Chairman of the CIIF Committee made a warm welcome to all participants. He elaborated how social capital could be built by a 1-person grocery store in an old public housing estate or by a corporate with over 100 stores in different districts of Hong Kong. Mr KWAN also encouraged corporates and CIIF-funded projects teams to establish longer-term relationship instead of one-off cooperation.

Four guest speakers, namely, Mr Benson KWONG, Senior Manager, Customer Services Department, Fairwood Fast Food Limited, Mr Tony CHAN, Project Officer, Christian Family Service Centre, Ms Doris CHONG, Service Supervisor, Hong Kong Federation of Women's Centres Limited and Ms Noel LEUNG, Unit-in-charge, Services for Ethnic Minorities Unit, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lady MacLehose Centre shared their “dating” stories and how they went beyond the scope of projects and developed social capital in individuals, organizations, corporates and also the community at large.

Participants were then divided into groups, facilitated by CIIF Committee Members or SC.Net Members, to share what they are able to contribute and discuss the possible collaborative opportunities.

Another team of guest speakers, Mr W.K. WONG, Assistant Senior Manager, Sustainability and Ms Rebecca SIU, Project Officer, from the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, introduced the Social Capital Personnel Registration Scheme, a scheme funded by CIIF and SOCIALCAPITAL.SHARE Online Forum, a platform which offers online resources for collaboration, in the meeting. Participants were encouraged to register and share their experience and insights at the online forum.

Dr Wingco LO Kam-wing, JP, Chairman of Promotion and Development Sub-committee, wrapped up the meeting by highlighting the unlimited potential to expand the relationship participants established today into a long-lasting partnership in the future. He also thanked Committee members, namely, Miss Amy CHAN Lim-chee, JP, Mr Alan CHEUNG Yick-lun, Dr Vivian LOU Wei-qun, Miss Joanna WONG Kwan-chiu, Mr YUEN Sui-see (Vice-chairman of Promotion and Development Sub-committee) and SC.Net members, namely, Ms CHUI Heung-lan, Mr. FU Tsun-hung, Mr HO Tsz-ming, Mrs. Grace NG, Mr. PANG Woon-kei and Mr Tony TAI Chark-tong for their great jobs of being the “Matchmakers” in this “speed dating” meeting.
