With a rapidly ageing population in Hong Kong, increasing emphasis is placed on the challenges possibly faced by senior citizens, in particular singleton elders and elderly couples who often lack community support due to limited social networks. On the other hand, senior citizens should also be given opportunities to utilise their talents, actively participate in social affairs and live a splendid life. To this end, CIIF launches its 25th batch application on the theme “New horizon with strengthened mutual support networks among senior citizens and the community” with a briefing session already held at Leighton Hill Community Hall on 17 December 2015. Guest speakers were invited to share their experiences on how to open up a new horizon with mutual help for seniors, particularly those elderly singletons and couples living in public housing estates, through their mutual help networks and the community’s participation.

The Briefing attracted nearly 220 participants from different sectors. Ms. Carmen Ng, Secretary General of the CIIF Secretariat delivered a welcome address and briefed the audience on CIIF concepts.
