Hong Kong Secondary Schools Social Capital Micro Film Competition Award Ceremony
To enhance the understanding of social capital of the secondary school students and prepare them to lend a helping hand for the new communities
(28 February, 2016) Organised by the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) of the Hong Kong Labour and Welfare Bureau and co-organised by the Education Bureau, the “Hong Kong Secondary Schools Social Capital Micro Film Competition” award ceremony was held today at M21-uCinema. The Competition is fully supported by HKEdCity, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Jockey Club Media 21 (M21) and the Sing Tao News Corporation Limited.
The competition aims to enhance the understanding of social capital by the Hong Kong secondary school students, encouraging them to start nurturing a stronger sense of belonging, lending a helping hand for the new communities and to disseminate this message through production of micro-films. A total of 38 entries from 32 schools were received. After two rounds of adjudications, 4 awards from the junior secondary session (including Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up and one Merit award) and 6 awards from the senior secondary session (including Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up and three Merit awards) were granted today. The CIIF Committee Chairman, Dr Lam Ching-choi, Convenor of the CIIF Brand-Building Steering Group, Dr Ricky Szeto Wing-fu, SC.Net Planning and Development Task Force Convenor, Dr Helen Chan Wing-mui, SC.Net Member, Mr Thomas Lo Sui-sing, as well as guest speakers of the various workshops, advertiser/novel writer/Creative Writing Power founder, Mr Anthony Wong, Best Video Limited founder, Mr Rono Kwong Hoi-Cheung and director, Mr. Ho Siu attended the ceremony and presented awards to students.
About one hundred secondary school students attended the award ceremony to celebrate and observe the winning entries, filling the venue with laughters and warmth. Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of CIIF Committee, Dr Lam Ching-choi, said “We hope that younger generations can continue to lend their helping hand to society, showing their love and care to establish strong networks and allow the spirit of ‘Social Capital’ to continue to blossom.”
The competition is part of CIIF’s school education campaign; other activities include roving exhibitions and street promotion to schools, as well as workshops on social capital and micro-film production, with an aim to promote the concept of social capital among secondary school students.
