To promote the concept of social capital, the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) have jointly produced a television drama series entitled “The Neighbourhood”. This is Hong Kong’s first television drama series to promote social capital, in the hope of fostering stronger mutual support among neighbours and building a caring community.
“The Neighbourhood” features two young people who met each other in a small community. Forming closer ties with their neighbours, the two characters begin to love the community and undergo a transformation. Through the drama series, the CIIF hopes to introduce to the public social capital concepts, including social cohesion, mutual trust and help, and reciprocity, in order to build a caring community.
The 15-episode drama series will be broadcast at 8pm every Saturday from now on until August 30 on TVB Jade and RTHK TV 31. The RTHK website tv.rthk.hk and the mobile app “RTHK Screen” will offer live broadcast and a programme archive. The CIIF has also launched a question-and-answer game on the drama series. Participants may stand a chance to win a gift. For details, please visit www.facebook.com/ciif.hk.
