Cross- Generation Social Capital Building Project
Agency : The Chinese Rhenish Church Hong Kong Synod

Critical Success Factor

Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (Baptist Hospital) has actively participated in the project. Through Medical-Business-Community cross-sectoral collaboration, it has strengthened the ties among neighbours in the Choi Wan community. Baptist Hospital has not only assisted in the formulation of the direction and implementation strategies of the project by attending the joint meetings for key collaborators, but it has also mobilised nearly 120 staff volunteers to organise workshops on knowledge of health care and healthy diet for parents, teachers and project House Captains over the past two years. In addition, to enhance the relationships within the neighbourhood and promote cross-generational integration, various activities have been organised to convey positive psychological messages to students, whereas students have also been led to pay home visits to those living alone and people in need.

Quote from the winner

Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (Baptist Hospital) is most honoured to receive the "Outstanding Social Capital Partnership Award (Corporate)". The award testifies our concerted efforts in collaborating with social service partners and confirms the contribution made by our volunteer services.

“It takes a village to raise a child” is what we believe in. The Choi Wan Good Neighbour Health Network (Phase II) - Cross Generation Social Capital Building Project implemented by the Chinese Rhenish Church Hong Kong Synod served as a platform for building health capital through enhancing the health awareness of school children and promoting the relationship between parents and their children as well as strengthening the abilities of parents and school teachers to take care of small children. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to parents and teachers for their active involvement in promoting the physical and psychosocial wellness of school children. Credits must also go to other cross-discipline partners of this project for brilliantly exercising their networking power. Together we have witnessed the continual growth of school children.

Increasingly forging closer links with communities and other stakeholders is one of Baptist Hospital’s development strategies. We will continue to invest in promotion of health education with an ultimate aim to enable the school children and their caregivers to live a healthy life.
