Quote from the winner

I am delighted to be awarded Outstanding Social Capital Partnership Award (Individual) by the Community Investment and Inclusion Fund. I am grateful to Ms. YANG and Mr. YIU, the social workers of the project "Play with Cross Generations in Lei Tung" of TWGHs Jockey Club Lei Tung Integrated Services Centre, who nominated me. I would also like to share this honour with those volunteers who have been working with me for over a decade and also my supportive neighbours.

"Play with Cross Generations in Lei Tung" uses play as a focal point to let people in the community communicate and share happiness with each other. Before joining the project, my social circle is limited to elderly and middle-aged people, but now I extend its coverage to children. They will greet me in the street! This project is cross-generation as well as cross-sectoral in nature. I truly believe that it has successfully promoted the goal of inter-generational cohesion in the community. Furthermore, through community home visits, the needy families and the elderly living alone can feel the care of the community. Besides, I can invite them to participate in community activities, so that they can interact among residents.

In fact, becoming a volunteer in this project has enriched my life. And I will be much devoted to it. I will help train up more volunteers to reach out neighbourhoods and share happiness in the community. I am delighted to bring happiness to others as I believe that happiness is such simple and straightforward.
