Unleashing the Power of Social Capital

To tackle the closely intertwined social issues, stakeholders need to make concerted efforts to identify feasible solutions and allocate resources for implementing these solutions. Speakers will introduce different models that facilitate stakeholders such as the Government, the business sector, public and private funds to build up mutually beneficial collaborative relationships. They will also explore how such collaborative relationships can unleash the unlimited power of social capital in the community.

Dr. Liliane CHAN Chui-king
Chairperson of Executive Committee, Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres

Dr. Liliane CHAN Chui-king is an experienced practitioner in elderly and dementia care. She contributes her expertise in social service organisations both locally and in the Mainland. Since 2004, she has been the Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres, an NGO having Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

Dr. Douglas CHAN Nim-tak
Council Member of Hong Kong Medical Association; SC.Net Member

Dr. Douglas CHAN Nim-tak is a council member of The Hong Kong Medical Association (HKMA) and the Co-chairman of several committees of HKMA such as Task Force on Dementia Awareness and Management in the Community, Community Service Committee and Task Force on Public Private Partnership. Dr. CHAN is also the Deputy Chairman of Preliminary Investigation Committee and Assessor of the Medical Council of Hong Kong, and Committe Member of the District Health Centre of Kwai Tsing District of Food and Health Bureau.

Ms. IP Siu-ming
District Social Welfare Officer (Kwun Tong) of Social Welfare Department

Ms. IP Siu-ming is a registered social worker previously served in casework counseling, centre supervision, and service branches in Social Welfare Department. Currently managing and coordinating some three hundred welfare services units in Kwun Tong District, Ms. IP has solid experience in promoting and coordinating the community neighbourhood support networking projects in the recent and largest public rental housing estates at Anderson Road.

Mr. Edwin LEE King-yan
Board Member of Simon K.Y. Lee Foundation

Mr. Edwin LEE King-yan is a Board Member of the Simon K Y Lee Foundation. He serves as a Non-Official Member of the Commission on Children established by the Government. Mr. LEE is also Director and Head of Strategic Planning of the Sun Hing Group. Formerly a philanthropy professional, Mr. LEE has been a consultant for various private and corporate foundations. He also used to be a Charities Manager for The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

Ms. Josephine LEE Yuk-chi
CIIF Committee Member; Chief Executive Officer of St. James’ Settlement

Ms. Josephine LEE Yuk-chi received her Bachelor of Social Sciences (Social Work) and Master of Social Sciences in Social Work from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong respectively. Besides, she also holds an EMBA degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Ms. LEE is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St. James’ Settlement. Ms. LEE began her social work career as a family counsellor and school social worker when she joined St. James’ Settlement. She was then promoted to supervise elderly services in managing community-based services for the elderly. Later on, Ms. LEE began to head up a new unit focusing on partnership and alliance development when she was responsible for project development, image building, marketing and corporate communication. After taking up the positions of Assistant CEO and Deputy CEO in 2011 and 2013, she succeeded as CEO in January 2018.
