Physical and mental health are fundamental to keeping a person healthy. Speakers will discuss how the professional services and the intervention by social capital approach can complement each other. They will share with us the utilisation of the advantages and expertise of various sectors to provide the ex-mentally ill and their families with a friendly environment in the community. They will also explore how “Community-Medical-Welfare” collaboration can contribute to building up community support networks for promoting public understanding of mental health and wider acceptance of the ex-mentally ill with a view to building healthy mind and a harmonious community. |

Dr. Christian CHAN is an associate professor of clinical psychology at HKU's Department of Psychology. He received a BA in psychology from McGill University and an MA and a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston. His clinical training was completed at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School and New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. He studies disaster mental health, lifestyle medicine, positive youth development, and intergroup relations.

Mr. Raymond CHIU Han-man, a social worker with 26 years of experience, has joined Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service since 1995 and is now its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. CHIU has worked in various social service areas such as the youth, mental health, employment training and poverty alleviation, with over 20 years of experiences in career counselling, corporate social responsibility projects and operation of social enterprises. Over the years, he promotes social innovation services in the organisation, connecting partners from various sectors in the community to build up collaboration platforms and intervention models.

Ms. Jessie TSUI Mun-chee joined the Jardine Matheson Group as MINDSET Manager in 2016 and later took on the role of Manager, External Communications. She was appointed Executive Director of MINDSET in 2018.

Ms. Daisy WONG Man-ying, a registered social worker, is the former Department Manager of Community & Patient Resource Department, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and Service Coordinator for both Community Service and Patient Resource Centre Service of Hong Kong East Cluster, Hospital Authority. In her 23 years of services at Hospital Authority, she developed patient empowerment services through three patient resource centres and she also promoted “Medical-Social Collaboration” through the development of seven communication platforms and six strategies, with both hospital and community stakeholders.

Dr. Raymond CHEN Chung-i, a senior hospital executive for 30 years, is one of the early advocates of holistic care in the quadri-dimensional context of physical, psycho-spiritual as well as social wellness. He supports social capital building mission of CIIF which effectively promotes social wellness of the community as well as the individual.
