Cross Sectoral Collaboration Meeting 2019

The Community Investment and Inclusion Fund (CIIF) organised a “Cross Sectoral Collaboration Meeting” on 9 December 2019. The Meeting was attended by over 100 participants from business sector, social service sector and university, hoping to achieve a common goal of building social capital for Hong Kong.

Dr Wingco LO Kam-wing, JP, Chairman of Promotion and Development Sub-committee of CIIF, made a warm welcome to the participants. He highlighted that building social capital required joint effort. Corporates and NGOs, regardless their size and background, can play a vital role to inject social capital into every corner of society. He called on all participants to make contributions in building social capital through collaborations, showing the synergy power of “1 plus 1 can be bigger than 2”.

Mr Alan CHEUNG Yick-lun, member of CIIF Committee and a renowned entrepreneur, and Mr POON Kwok-hin, Chairman (Voluntary) of Build & Wish Volunteer Team, shared their experiences in cross-sectoral collaboration. Mr Alan CHEUNG shared how his company utilizes its strengths to “Create Social Value” (CSV) with other sectors. Mr POON Kwok-hin introduced the work of his volunteering team and its collaboration with NGOs, government departments and corporations in helping families and elders in need.

To further promote social capital among the business sector, Mr W.K. WONG, Assistant Senior Manager of Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, was invited to make a presentation in the Meeting to introduce their CIIF-funded project and the “Guidance Document”. He encouraged corporates to make use of the “Guidance Document” in their implementation of sustainability plan.

Mr. YUEN Sui-see, Vice-chairman of Promotion and Development Sub-Committee, highlighted in his closing remarks that social capital cannot be built in one day. He hoped that the Meeting had brought new insights for participants to understand more about social capital and the work of CIIF. He also hoped the participants would further explore cross-sectoral opportunities with their potential partners after the Meeting.
