Highlights of SCB Awards 2018 Briefing Seminar
Theme: Fulfil Corporate Social Responsibility Through Social Capital Development Unleash the Power of Cross-Sectoral Collaboration



To enhance the awareness of the Social Capital Builder (SCB) Awards, CIIF organised a briefing seminar at Hong Kong Productivity Council Building in Kowloon Tong on 31 August 2018 during which speakers shared their experiences, strategies and models in building social capital in Hong Kong. More than 200 participants from different sectors attended the seminar, get to understand more about the Awards, know each other and explore collaboration opportunities.

Mr KWAN Chuk-fai, Vice-Chairman of the CIIF Committee and Director-Corporate Communications and Investor Relations of Hang Lung Properties Limited introduced the social capital concept and encouraged the business sector to fulfil their corporate social responsibility (CSR) through the social capital strategy, thereby creating an all-win situation for our society through cross-sectoral collaboration.

Realising the importance of building social capital, NWS Holdings Limited participated in the CIIF-funded project “On Call 24- Multi-disciplinary Community Health Promotion Scheme” implemented by the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council Limited. Sheng Kung Hui organised home visits and training to serve the elderly people in need, while NWS, as a cohesive partner, mobilised its volunteer teams’ expertise and networks in transportation and construction to check the wheelchairs and repair them if needed for the elderly.

NWS was awarded the Outstanding Social Capital Partnership Award (Corporate) in 2016 in recognition of its contribution to social capital development in Hong Kong.

Ms Yan CHAN, Secretary General of the CIIF Secretariat, explained the assessment criteria and timeline of the SCB Awards.
