We Can, We Care, Together We Create

The word ¡§Net¡¨ means that
the development of social capital
pivots on a close network and mutual trust.

Mr Matthew Cheung, GBS, JP
Secretary for Labour and Welfare

Social Capital.Net (SC.Net), established in November 2008, is a multi-functional knowledge base and development platform. By engaging a group of enthusiastic persons to become SC.Net members, the SC.net will consolidate local practical experience on social capital for its better development. To achieve this goal, we must have four key elements:

One vision, one belief

  • Work together to create social capital

Two persons, greater effect„P

  • Two persons play the synergistic effect of "1+1>2"
Over a hundred SC.Net members achieve even higher synergy

Three minds pool wisdom

  • Achieving knowledge transfer on the basis of consolidated experience and mutual learning

Four good qualities, light up communities

  • Commitment, devotion, companionship and self-enhancement

With the cross-sectoral collaboration between the community, business sector and the Government, SC.Net is formally launched to build up social capital together.

Mission and Functions

With the mission of promoting social capital, SC.Net members aim to further extend the impact of social capital by leveraging on their respective expertise, experience and networks, and bring social capital into fuller play in various sectors and their respective areas. As a result, the public can better know and recognise the concepts of social capital and then actively take part in building up social capital and promoting social development. The CIIF expects that there will be SC.Net members in every community in the near future, who will spread the benefits of social capital over the territory.

Three Key Platforms of SC.Net:

  • Interactive platform for knowledge exchange
Enabling academics and persons across sectors to share their expertise and explore the theories and approaches of social capital
    „P
  • Co-operation platform for cross-sectoral collaboration
Promoting cross-sectoral collaboration, reinforcing and enhancing synergy as well as achieving extraordinary benefits
    „P
  • Innovative Platform
Bouncing off ideas of persons across sectors so that they will actively introduce new strategies and flagship projects for social capital development
